Broadway Theatres Architectural Review January 2002
The concept of the BTPP was created in January 2002 when representatives from Historic Consultants, Inc. and Westlake Reed Leskosky architects conducted the first overview study of the theatres. WRL has been honored with more than 100 national, state, and local level AIA design awards, and AIA state level Gold Medal firm award, and several honors from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Westlake Reed Leskosky provides comprehensive fully integrated design and management services including Architecture, Engineering, Interior Architecture and Design, Master Planning, Programming, Theater Technical Services, Feasibility Studies, and assistance with historic tax credits and New Market tax credits. This initial study became the benchmark for the creation of the Broadway Theatre District Planning Project from National Preservation Partners. The BTPP was NPP's effort to take a comprehensive, realistic look at the opportunities for the theatres on Broadway to regenerate themselves and once again become a contributing part of the entertainment culture of downtown Los Angeles. Our goal was to identify and complete a combination of theatre related studies that would result in the creation of a strategic implementation plan for the restoration and reuse of the Broadway theatres. Through our efforts we would raise public perception and awareness about the Broadway theatre district as an entertainment destination. |
