Historic Buildings Most city centers have historic buildings. They are what makes a city have idenity, character, soul, and they often are economic engines for a city. There are always old buildings in a community that need help and usually concerned citizens or city agency's trying to save them.
Our goal is to provide specialized technical expertise to historic building owners and city agencies who are working to restore them. With our extensive experience we are able to unravel the maze of complex policies, procedures and incentives that play a role in reusing historic buildings and put the project on the right track for success. We come from the perspective that the sooner you can bring the property into a productive status, the sooner the city center will benefit from its contribution. In addition, preserving and rehabilitating old and historic buildings is inherantely environmentally friendly. With today's enviromental regulations and consumer expectations, older buildings will often get a second look. Revitalized city center's with historic buildings promote cultural identy and promote heritage tourism. National Preservation Partners, parent corporation of City Center Community Development, has a track record of providing planning services on a variety of projects that focus on how to redevelop that old building. One of our most significant ongoing projects is the Broadway Theater District in Downtown Los Angeles. This area has one of the largest concentrations of historic theaters left in the world, and for many years, the City of Los Angeles had tried to bring change to the street but was never able to fully engage property owners and City agencies at the same time. Our Board of Directors and advisors analyzed the situation and found a gap in the technical information that was available to the property owners and City to help them understand the complex nature of bringing the historic theater buildings back to new use. In an effort to accelerate the process, NPP took on a four year feasibility study and planning project. In 2006 we successfully completed a comprehensive market feasibility study of the historic theater programming potential and a detailed reuse analysis of the surrounding historic buildings on Broadway between 3rd Street & 9th Street. This section of the web site gives the reader detailed information on our services for the Broadway project and allows you to access the reports we produced.
Our goal is to perform similar services for other municipalities and property owners. Each project is unique so give us a call today to find out how we can assist your project.
