Councilman Huizar and Mayor Villaraigosa announce the Bringing Back Broadway initiative
The Bringing Back Broadway initiative from Councilmen Jose Huizar is public-private partnership agreement with the City of Los Angeles and with property owners on Broadway. The goal is to Bring Broadway Back to the destination-oriented shopping and entertainment district that thrived here for decades. These efforts began with the lobbying and educational efforts of National Preservation Partners by way of the Broadway Theater Planning Project, which was completed in October of 2005.
This initiative is a blue print for an Entertainment Zone along Broadway that would contribute to reactivating the district nighttime entertainment in the theaters, retail shopping, and eating experiences. By moving forward together the City family and the Property owners will be outlining goals and objectives that will be implemented over the next 2 to 10 years.
